Lead2Pipeline, a popular B2B marketing agency with dozens of clients under its belt, was in the process of expanding their internal promotional marketing with a short podcast series called "Break the Funnel", hosted by their CMO (and my boss) Sourabh Kothari. The series brought on talented B2B marketers from all walks of the marketing sphere to share their insights on Demand Generation, B2B, Event Marketing, and much more.

As I looked back on the work I did for this series, I felt the quality of the content could be improved to better appeal to users on LinkedIn and YouTube. This included adjusting the actual video content and imagery to better lean into a podcast format rather than a talk show of sorts. I also had the idea of expanding Break the Funnel into a set of eBooks that focus on particular subjects in the marketing space. Lead2Pipeline had a number of eBooks with older design guidelines, so to me, it would be beneficial to refresh these with a modern look. The company was also attending trade shows like Forrester B2BMX in Austin, TX, so I came up with a conceptual piece of stationery that could be used for a trade show appearance.

The following details my note-taking process, brainstorming, and final execution of all project deliverables

Notes

Project Stylescape

For the podcast segments, we were originally using Zoom recordings between Sourabh and the guests as footage and starting/ending each segment with a custom intro. For the purposes of professionality, Zoom footage at 480p does not adequately present Lead2Pipeline as a significant force in the B2B space, so I decided it would be best to remove the footage entirely and substitute it with static imagery that reflected other, more notable podcasts lacking real quality film. As for the intro, I felt that we could have been more detailed and raised the quality of the introduction to set ourselves apart from other content on LinkedIn. The original intro largely uses static images to create the illusion of motion, but in my mind, why build an illusion when you could have the real thing? Plus, I had always wanted to experiment with Blender, so I ended up building a new 3D intro for each clip.

With regard to the eBooks, I initially built out early concepts that featured them in a portrait orientation. This was due to the fact that many competitors were using the same layout, and I had previously pitched this layout in the above project stylescape. As I was designing later on, I realized using a landscape orientation would not only set us apart from the competition, but give us more room to visualize complicated marketing ideas in short passages accompanied by creative visuals. This is the reason early sketches show such a stark contrast from the final draft.

Not much needed to be researched for building the trade show concept. The idea was to have a trade show booth that could promote the above mentioned deliverables and sub-brand of Lead2Pipeline as a whole. I researched a number of popular trade show layouts and matched those with what Lead2Pipeline had used in the past to generate something that takes the presentation of Lead2Pipeline in a bold direction.
